Distracted Driving: Keep Your Eyes & Mind On The Road

Distracted Driving:  Stay focused when on the road.

In 2014, 3,179 people were killed, and 431,000 were injured in motor vehicle crashes involving distracted drivers.

According to Michigan.gov, there are three main types of distracted driving:

  1. Visual-taking your eyes off the road
  2. Manual-taking your hands off the wheel
  3. Cognitive-taking your mind off the road

Talking on your cell phone, eating, drinking, passengers, GPS and radios are all examples of things that can distract us while we drive.  For the safety of yourself, your passengers and everyone else on the road, pay attention to your driving.  Save your text, phone conversation and all other distractions for when you are off the road.

You can take the pledge to end distracted driving at www.distraction.gov

Remember, it only takes one second to change your life.
